biggest tires for 17x8 and 17x9.v?

whats the widest tires i can put on 17x8 and 17x9.5 i ordered my new rims and im pretty sure 245 and 285 are the bigest but i seem to remember someone with 255 upwards front just i was looking at tires online and they advise viii.5 minimum. the 9.v i think 285 simply im simply making sure befor i order. yes i pussied out and didnt get the 17x11, i didnt think i could stuff em under and lower information technology as much equally i wanted without interferance.

My son has 245/45/17 in front end (eight inch wheel). They will scuff on the fenderwell on bumps occasionally. I'm not sure of the backspace.

275/40/17'southward in the rear on a 9.5" wheel. No problem back there at all. 285 should fit fine as well.

I have 245/50/16 on my 8" rims up forepart (I think they're 8 inch) and no problems at all.

Probably plenty of room for 255s.

On a 9.five inch wide rim, max recomended is either 285 or 275 wide... On an 8inch (not) sure, but a 255 might be max.

I accept BFG g-force sports on 245 40 17'due south on 8", 0 get-go on front, and 275 40-17's on ix", 0 kickoff on the rear. The right rear rubbed "one time", simply that was from not paying attention to a big bump in the road... other than that...no rubbing. If i set a straight edge acroos the top of the tire'south, fr and rear, i have 1 3/four" upwardly to the bike lip on front, and 2 ane/4" up to the lip on the rear. When i pull up beside a stock 06 mustang, my fr fender is nigh 4" or 5" lower than theirs, pulling up beside a new charger, is similar pulling up beside a "truck", lol.... pretty crazy ... just for reference, i measured the lowest signal on the frame rail, right where it starts to curve up at the front, and it is v i/4"... and the header collector flange is 3 ane/4"... ... might have to practice something well-nigh that ! ( good affair i take oil filled Koni's !!! ) I checked the contact patch on the 275's on the rear...looks like about 9 1/2"... and the sidewall to sidewall (widest) measurement, looks like a pilus under 11". I've seen some 285's on a 69 camaro, not sure how wide the rims were... but they were "stuffed" in there... not much clearance for movement... but they looked "real" wide, even compared to the 275'south...

I take 245/45 and 255/l on 17x8 wheels.

My 285/40/17 'south looked friggin huge at beginning. Simply they have grown on me. They are 11 1/four wide...on footing...

i concluded up going with 255/40/17 front and 285/40/17 rear the tires got here in ii days simply the rims are gonna exist another couple weeks. after the 285 isnt big enough i might send the rims to get widened to ten or 10.v if i have room by the leaf for more than tire and a 315.
